Over 6000 new users rushed in 48 hours to download the app.

Rooster Insurance provides insurance premiums based on how motorists actually drive, as opposed to crude demographics such as age, marital status, and whether they own a home.

This means that the insurer is able to offer competitive prices for young drivers.

Through the downloadable app, drivers aged 20 and over who have been driving for at least 12 months simply have to complete a three-week, one-off test drive in order to obtain a score on which their quote is then based on.

As seen in the viral video of TikTok, test drive records where people use the app while they are driving to provide an indication of their performance and scores

Then a fixed price quote is provided, with the opportunity to save up to 40% for good drivers.

Unlike telematics policies that monitor driving for the duration of the policy, Rooster Insurance only assesses driving behaviour via its app during the test-drive period.
Insurance for younger drivers comes off once the test drive is completed.

As like-minded users learn about Rooster’s benefits, the number of fans on Tiki Tok increased to more than 89,000.

In order to avoid 24-hour surveillance for younger drivers and those who can drive more safely, the app features a telematics device, which believes in fair insurance pricing for all.

Traditional car insurance doesn’t treat all drivers fairly and often leaves good drivers subsidising the few who cause car accidents. Data shows that about 50% of claims are made by only 30% of all UK drivers.

For these reasons, Rooster will not insure a driver who fails the three-week test within that time period. Thus, instead of paying the premium for claims which are rejected frequently, the insurer uses the savings to maintain premiums and reduce expenses for good drivers.

We established Rooster on the premise that the current insurance system is flawed.

“It’s unfair for so many people to be paying for the faults of so few, and I believe we’re a nation of good drivers that deserve affordable costs.
“Young drivers especially are often taken advantage of, and I’m so happy we can help them get out onto the roads while promoting the benefits of being a safer driver.

“Built on a simple premise, we are challenging the big dogs at their own game with a brand new offering which is going to lower insurance costs for so many people – we can’t wait to see how the industry evolves following the trail we are blazing.”

All of the Rooster Insurance policies are completely comprehensive and reinsured by Munich Re and insured by Munich Re is accepted and regulated by the FCA.

Registering as a driver is quick and simple, you simply scan your driving licence and answer a couple of questions.

The iOS and Android apps are now available for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play in the UK.

Rooster Insurance is rated as one of the best companies on Trust Pilot.
